Paparazzi is a name given to photographers who make their living photographing celebrities and anyone who is famous. Paparozzo is a single photographer who works by himself. The word seems to have come from an Italian movie, La doice vita, which was made in the 1960’s. One of the characters had looked at a book written in 1901, and one of the names in the story was Signor Paparozzo. By some chance the name was given to the photographers and has been called that ever since.

Paparazzi reputations are quite often considered a nuisance or annoying as they will due virtually anything to get a picture. Taking a picture is normally not a problem, but the pictures that pay the money are quite often taken in intimate and revealing settings.

Paparazzi will go to any extreme to get the picture. The photos are taken from airplanes, helicopters, climbing up in a tree, hiding behind whatever is convenient, and from anywhere where the person or persons do not know they are being photographed. The more revealing the picture makes a picture worth more money.

Anyone in the public is fair game for any photographer. It is only when they invade the privacy of a person that a problem can result. Stalkrazzi is another name given to a photographer who is relentless in his quest for a picture.

Yet there are those who want publicity and will do anything to get in front a lens. Certain magazines print pictures if there is demand from the public. It is all about money. The paparazzi get paid for the picture and the magazine publisher sells the magazine based on the demand of the public.

Cameras that many of the photographers use have fast, long lenses. This helps get the shot from a distance with less chance of being unnoticed. They also take the risk of getting caught when they go too far and can have their equipment damaged or taken from them.
