This Digital Photography Technology Logo depicts what is needed to take a photograph.

There are three elements needed: light, lens, and shutter.

Light is needed to illuminate the subject. The sun, in many photographs, is the light source. All others sources are artificial light, except the moon, which is a reflection of the sun.

The lens collect light, adjusts for the amount of light and focuses the image on the film or sensor.

The shutter is adjusted for the length of time light is permitted on the film or sensor.

The three colors, red, blue, and green, are what make up every color. Equally together these colors make white.

The early photographers camera were nothing more than a box which held the film, a lens and shutter.

There was nothing automatic and quality photographs were still taken.
