Darkroom
The darkroom is where the photographer sees the results of the photographs that he or she has taken. There are two types of darkrooms. The first is the traditional darkroom where glass plates and or film are developed and are called negatives. A negative is the black and white or color reversal of the actual picture. From these negatives prints or enlargements are made.
The second is the digital darkroom. Digital folders or files are removed from the digital camera and down loaded into some type of digital storage system. From there the files are processed and printed.
The traditional darkroom is truly a dark room. The film is processed is a room with no light and with a variety of different chemicals. Early photography was all done in black and white.
The digital darkroom uses a computer, software, and a printer.
The end result of the two techniques are the same, but digital offers so many moreĀ features, and is the way everyone is going.
